Pro-life Bishop Gracida strikes again, this time with radio and youtube ads

Retired Bishop Rene H. Gracida (above), now 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas, has always been a strong voice in defense of preborn babies.

Now he has issued a radio ad in which he tells Catholics that Barack Hussein Obama is pro-abortion and we may not vote for him.

A pro-lifer in Ohio has turned the radio ad into a Youtube ad (click on this post's title).

Here is the text of Bishop Gracida's ad, in its entirety:

"This is Bishop Rene H. Gracida, reminding all Catholics that they must vote in this election with an informed conscience. A Catholic cannot be said to have voted in this election with a good conscience if they have voted for a pro-abortion candidate. Barack Hussein Obama is a pro-abortion candidate."

Why, do you suppose, haven't L.A.'s Cardinal Roger Mahony and his bishops raised their voices in this crucial election battle as Bishop Gracida has and as so many other bishops have?

Maybe the Cardinal and his bishops all have laryngitis together. And paralysis of the fingers, too, so they can't type anything out. That's got to be it -- got to be the only reason they haven't told their Catholic flock not to vote for the pro-aborts. Don't you agree?

Let's hope all Yes on 4 and Yes on 8 voters know Barack Hussein Obama is pro-abortion

Last week's issue of The Tidings carried an article (click on this post's title) about Proposition 4, the parental notification initiative, and about how Latinos could help it pass.

Latinos, of course, can also help pass Prop 8, the defense of marriage initiative.

And may enough Latinos know to vote for McCain-Palin, because Barack Hussein Obama is pro-abortion and pro-the-homosexual-agenda, not to mention being the closest to a socialist that any presidential candidate ever has been, other than Henry Wallace in 1948 and the Communist Party USA's Gus Hall many times.

Here is the link to the Prop 4 web site, if you can help them in the crucial remaining days before the election: http://www.yeson4.net/

So far, Cardinal Mahony not among 89 bishops who say Catholics may not morally vote for pro-aborts

Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles (in L.A. Times photo above, with MOCA curator Brooke Hodge and cathedral architect Jose Moneo) is not among the 89 U.S. bishops this year who have issued or signed statements that say Catholics may not morally vote for pro-aborts.

In fact, ole Q did not see one California bishop on the list -- or should we say, "honor roll" -- of the baby-defending bishops at InsideCatholic.com the other day (Oct. 27).

As far as ole Q knows, Cardinal Mahony has been silent about voting for pro-aborts. If anyone knows anything he or any of our L.A. bishops has said about that, I will publicize it happily.

The Cardinal, or any bishop, could at least quote the following statement of the U.S. bishops:

"Any politics of human dignity must seriously address issues of racism, poverty, hunger, employment, education, housing, and health care... But being 'right' in such matters can never excuse a wrong choice regarding direct attacks on innocent human life. Indeed, the failure to protect and defend life in its most vulnerable stages renders suspect any claims to the 'rightness' of positions in other matters affecting the poorest and least powerful of the human community." (sec. 23) -- Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics (A Statement by the Catholic Bishops of the United States, 1998)

If Catholic voters were to hear that statement and actually take it to heart, they might vote next Tuesday against Barack Hussein Obama and other pro-abortion candidates similar to the liberals whom the Cardinal has palled around with for decades.

Cardinal Mahony, there is still time before Election Day for you to finally tell America: "You CAN'T be Catholic and pro-abortion." Please do!

To see what we're missing, visit other dioceses' web sites

Have you ever looked at the U.S. bishops' lists of bishops and of dioceses? Click on this post's title to see the alphabetical list of bishops.

Find a traditional, pro-life bishop in that list, and click on the link to his diocesan web site. The chances are very good that you will see there some very good pro-life info and links.

Keep doing that for each of the traditional bishops you can think of, and you will be so edified by how pro-life they and their diocesan web sites are.

Sadly, you will also be reminded of how much more pro-life the web site of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles could be.

Once again, the L.A. Times thinks it knows better than the Church that Jesus founded and the Holy Spirit guides

The L.A. Times's size keeps shrinking along with its readership, and the bosses have laid off lots and lots of their staff. But they still have room for their columnist Steve Lopez -- which is too bad, because he is pro-the-homosexual agenda.

Lopez has done his share of going after Cardinal Roger Mahony about mishandling of molesters. But his column today (click on this post's title) is a propaganda piece for having homosexuals in the priesthood.

Lopez recounts interviewing Father Geoffrey Farrow, the now-suspended priest from the Diocese of Fresno. As you might recall reading here not long ago, Father Farrow recently told a TV station he was homosexual, denounced pro-marriage Prop 8 at Mass and then abandoned his parish post to light out for Los Angeles.

It figures that Father Farrow quickly would end up in the propaganda columns of the L.A. Times.

In his column, Lopez calls himself an agnostic, which makes anyone with good sense wonder why he bothers himself about what our Catholic Church believes and practices.

Anyway, every day as we each, as St. Paul tells us to, "Work out [our] salvation in fear and trembling," let's remember to pray for Father Farrow and for Steve Lopez.

And may we each remember and put into practice what Jesus tells us in today's Gospel:

"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

Amen.

Bishop Brom creates Latin Mass FSSP parish in San Diego

Thanks to today's edition of the online California Catholic Daily for the good news (click on this post's title) that:

"On Oct. 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, San Diego Bishop Robert Brom officially erected St. Anne Church at 621 Sicard St. as a 'personal parish' for Catholics in the diocese who prefer the extraordinary form of the Mass in Latin. A 'personal parish' has no geographical boundaries, which means any Catholic living in the diocese may join.

"Bishop Brom turned over the parish to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), a society of apostolic life approved in 1988 by Pope John Paul II specifically dedicated to continued use of the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite – also known as the Latin or Tridentine Mass."

Of course, we can hope that this does not mean the Latin Mass will not be celebrated eventually at other parishes in the diocese.

How soon do you think Cardinal Roger Mahony will set up a Latin Mass personal parish in each of the four pastoral regions of the vast Archdiocese of Los Angeles? (This is a rhetorical question.)

The same news article adds:

"In San Diego County, a Latin Mass is offered every Sunday at 6 p.m. by Fr. Cávana Wallace at St. Margaret parish in Oceanside, and on every third Sunday at 3:30 p.m. by Fr. Rich Perozich at St. Mary parish in Escondido.

"At St. Anne, daily Mass in Latin is offered Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m. A Low Mass in Latin is offered on Sundays at 7:30 a.m., and a High Mass on Sundays at 10 a.m.

"To contact the parish, call (619) 239-8253."

A pastor makes an apology

You might recall a recent post here about the pastor of San Gabriel Mission making injudicious comments against Proposition 8, the Defense of Marriage initiative.

Here is some good news, thanks to commenter Tom, who has sent in the following item:

From the San Gabriel Mission Weekly Bulletin, dated October 19, 2008...

Dear Parishioners of San Gabriel Mission:

The Peace of Christ be with you!

Two weeks ago, I presented in a bulletin letter an overview of the three Propositions (4, 6 and 8) on which our California Bishops’ Conference has taken an official position. I presented these positions in summary, but then added my own personal opinion regarding Proposition 8, framing it as a matter of my conscience. I regret and apologize for placing my opinions on the same level as our Bishops, “the authentic teachers of the faith.” I fully respect and support our Bishops’ position that Proposition 8 does not intend to infringe on the human and legal rights of our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters; rather it seeks to preserve the restriction of the term “marriage” to the complementary, life-long partnership of the whole of life, open to the gift of children, between one man and one woman.

Your brother in Christ,

Fr. Steve Niskanen, CMF, Pastor.

Bishop Joseph Martino takes over parish election forum, rips pro-abortion Catholics, says the babies come first and his word is law

Now, here's a bishop! This past Sunday, Bishop Joseph Martino (above, at the Consecration) of Scranton, Pa., marched into a parish election forum, took it over and laid down the law. So reports the Wayne Independent of Honesdale, Pa. (click on this post's title)

Today is a big news day, as people in the news business say -- and this particular news is good. It's all over the Catholic net: Bishop Martino has expressed and exercised his apostolic authority in no uncertain terms.

Bishop Martino blasted some at the forum for misrepresenting Catholic teaching about voting for pro-abortion politicians, for excluding the powerfully pro-life Sept. 30 pastoral letter he had written and circulated for this year's Respect Life Sunday on Oct. 5 -- and, startlingly, for touting the U.S. bishops' Faithful Citizenship document, which pro-lifers know is deliberately ambiguous about voting for pro-aborts.

Bishop Martino said, “No USCCB document is relevant in this diocese. The USCCB doesn’t speak for me. The only relevant document ... is my letter. There is one teacher in this diocese, and these points are not debatable.”

The bishop was making the point that true Catholic teaching is that in voting, aborting babies supersedes all other issues. (The U.S. bishops said this themselves in their 1998 document Living the Gospel of Life, but they have been retreating from it ever since.)

Bishop Martino said, “No social issue has caused the death of 50 million people. This is madness, people.” He said he no longer supports the Democrat Party.

The newspaper report said most of the audience cheered the bishop and gave him a standing ovation, but about a quarter of the attendees left after he finished speaking.

Note that Bishop Martino said, "No social issue has caused the death of 50 million people." He was following Donum Vitae's true Catholic teaching, which says that from conception onward, babies before birth have the exact same moral status and worth as people already born.

Here's a bishop who knows how to bish! Bravo, Bishop Martino! Bravissimo!

Thanks to two great Q-tipsters for tipping me off to this super pro-life news!

Biden lies again -- about the Church and aborting babies

Joe Biden (above, smirking), the pro-abortion zealot Democrat and self-described Catholic running mate of pro-abortion extremist Barack Hussein "I Don't Want Them Punished with a Baby" Obama, has lied again about the Church and aborting babies.

Biden, asked by the Delaware News Journal on Oct. 19 (click on this post's title) how he can reconcile being Catholic and defending Roe vs. Wade, said:

"It's very difficult. [NO KIDDING!] I was raised as a Catholic, I'm a practicing Catholic, and I'm totally at home with the Catholicism that I was raised in and this whole culture of social responsibility...

"But throughout the Church's history [sic], we've argued [sic] between whether or not it is wrong in every circumstance [sic] and the degree of wrong [sic]. Catholics have this notion [sic], it's almost a gradation [sic]."

[Um, Biden is "a practicing Catholic," except for that little thing about himself and his cronies facilitating the slayings of tens of millions of God's precious preborn babies.]

[And, um, how does putting 50 million babies to death fit into "social responsibility?"]

In the interview, Biden says a lot more, all of it bad. He needs to read what the bishops and the Knights of Columbus have said about him, and take it all to heart.

That'll be the day. But let's say a prayer for him.

This would be a perfect time for Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles to atone for his utter silence so far about abortion and the election. Cardinal Mahony could publicly explain what is wrong with Biden's remarks. He could also defend Pope John Paul II's teaching that any advocacy of other issues is "false and illusory" if we do not defend the right to life.

No, I'm not expecting that. But the Cardinal sure should do that.

Thanks to Lifenews.com for the story tip and the photo above.

Biden the Blasphemer

Pro-abortion Democrat and self-described Catholic Joe Biden (above), who is Barack Hussein Obama's running mate, committed blasphemy in a presidential debate this past April 27 (click on this post's title).

In that debate, Joe Biden said this:

"I strongly support Roe v. Wade....I would make sure that the people I sent to be nominated for the Supreme Court shared my values and understood that there is [sic] a right [sic] to privacy in the United States Constitution. That's why I led the fight to defeat Bork. Thank God he is not in the court or Roe v. Wade would be gone by now."

There you have it. Biden thanked God, the Author of Life and our Rights, that the soaked-in-tens-of-millions-of-babies'-blood Roe vs. Wade diktat is still in force.

That unjust, unjustified and unjustifiable ukase -- Roe vs. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 abortion-on-demand-right-up-to-and-including-birth "exercise in raw judicial power" -- is responsible for the deaths of 50 million American babies so far.

And Biden thanks God for it.

Yet despite that, a lot of pro-abortion, pro-socialism Catholics are going to vote for Biden the Blasphemer and his fellow abortion-lover Barack Hussein "Punished with a Baby" Obama.

Really sick, wouldn't you say? And sickening.

As I said, Catholic liberals love to honor pro-aborts -- and our bishops won't stop them

Probably you have heard that Fordham University plans to honor pro-abortion U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer on October 29.

Now comes word from the Cardinal Newman Society (click on this post's title) that tomorrow night (October 21) the School of Law at Santa Clara University will give a "Justice and Human Rights Award" to Leon Panetta, who was 100% pro-aborting babies when he was a congressman and when he was White House chief of staff to 100% pro-abortion Bill "Slick Willie" Clinton.

LifeNews.com reports that as White House chief of staff, Panetta even defended Clinton's cruel veto of a bill to outlaw slaying baby girls and boys who are partly born ("partial-birth abortion").

Our U.S. bishops could stop these scandalous pro-abortion awards ceremonies once and for all. They could enforce the order they gave Catholic institutions several years ago, to not honor pro-aborts. The bishops just need to PUNISH the liberals for defying them.

That'll be the day.

Will Cardinal Mahony now admonish Kmiec and guide our Los Angeles Catholic flock?

It's okay, even best, for the law to allow abortionists to kill millions of innocent little womb babies like this one, who, as we can see, is sucking her or his thumb.

Sadly, that's part of the gist of law prof Douglas Kmiec's op-ed piece in the L.A. Times today (Oct. 17). (Click on this post's title to see it. But keep a barf bag handy.) A self-described Catholic who has been openly stumping for the 100% pro-abortion politician Barack Hussein Obama, Kmiec writes this about aborting God's little babies:

"The way out is to remember that when there are differences among religious creeds, none is entitled to be given preference in law or policy. Sometimes the law must simply leave space for the exercise of individual judgment, because our religious or scientific differences of opinion are for the moment too profound to be bridged collectively."

Kmiec also says Catholics can vote for the abortion zealot extremist Barack Hussein Obama.

Okay, here we have a "teachable moment." It is a perfect, not to mention necessary, time for Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles to step up to the plate and set the record straight.

Cardinal Mahony should pen an op-ed piece and demand that the Times publish it.

His Eminence needs to correct Kmiec and give us millions of L.A. Catholics genuine Catholic teaching -- which is NOT "opinion," as Kmiec falsely and wrongly calls it.

Cardinal Mahony should tell us, loudly and clearly, that Catholic teaching is this:

"A Christian may never conform to a law which is in itself immoral, and such is the case of a law which would admit in principle the liceity of abortion. Nor can a Christian take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or vote for it. Moreover, he may not collaborate in its application." -- Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Declaration on Procured Abortion (par. 22), 1974

"A public official who would deny unborn children the protection of laws enjoyed by other citizens is guilty of grave injustice. Ordinarily it is morally illicit to help such a person achieve an office ... " -- Abp. John Myers (then-bishop of Peoria), The Obligations of Catholics and the Rights of Unborn Children, pastoral letter, 1990

Cardinal Mahony could also remind us what God tells us in Scripture:

"Woe to those who enact evil statutes, and to those who constantly record unjust decisions." -- Isaias 10:1

"'How long will you judge unjustly and favor the cause of the wicked? Defend the lowly and the fatherless; ... from the hand of the wicked deliver them.'" -- Psalm 81:1-4

Something like 60 bishops have spoken out on abortion and voting this year. When will Cardinal Mahony end his silence on this subject and tell us that aborting babies is the issue?

He should do it before the election, of course. For the little baby above, and for millions more just like her or him.

Villaraigosa donates $25,000 to fight Marriage

Tony Villar, a.k.a. Antonio Villaraigosa, the pro-abortion Catholic mayor of Los Angeles, has donated $25,000 to fight Prop 8, the Defense of Marriage initiative, reports the San Jose Mercury News (click on this post's title).

Villaraigosa has bragged about conducting "marriages" of homosexual pairs. He is said to want to run for governor of our fair state in 2010.

Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles held an event at the Armadillo (I mean, cathedral) for Villaraigosa's inauguration as mayor and then publicly paraded with him to his inaugural address. Pro-lifers trailed them with "You CAN'T Be Catholic and Pro-Abortion" signs.

Villaraigosa is pictured in the photo above, in the TV screen inset, as his then-mistress Mirtha Salinas announced to TV viewers that he and his wife were separating.

She was after that said to have become engaged to some other guy.

So Villaraigosa has now subverted marriage publicly as well as personally.

If Prop 8 were to lose, then would "civil rights" lawsuits against our Catholic Church follow if we refused to let homosexual pairs "marry" in our Catholic churches?

It's good that our California bishops are fighting for Prop 8 and urging each of us to do the same.

The photo above is from a blogspot (sorry, now I'm not sure which one) and apparently was also at flickr.com

Stable and psychologically sound

Just a quick bit of musing here:

We can all agree that only stable and psychologically sound men should be admitted to the seminary and ordained to the priesthood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Homosexuality is an objective disorder.

Someone with an objective disorder cannot be entirely stable and psychologically sound. Bishops should not admit them to ordination, as the Church said in 1961.

Now, someone who has homosexual temptations but sincerely resists them, tries to get rid of them and seeks to live chastely and stay in God's grace can be a good Catholic. But isn't it best for them to decide to live their Catholic lives in the lay state, not the clerical?

After all, if they "fall" when in the lay state, that gives far less scandal than if they "fall" after they have received Holy Orders.

What about someone who fights homosexual temptations who has already been ordained and is sincerely serving as a priest? The past cannot be undone, and they have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders. "Thou art a priest forever..."

With God's grace and their constantly renewed total devotion to their priesthood, they can think and live and act not as "gay" at all, but solely as priests of Jesus Christ. And God will bless them for their heroic virtue.

Other priests have to fight various temptations, such as booze and heterosexual lust.

But again, young men who are fighting homosexual temptations and are sincerely trying to discern their vocations should look elsewhere than the seminary and the priesthood.

Catholics have helped fund ACORN ... through the Campaign for Human Development

Probably you've heard the news about the 100% pro-abortion lapdog Barack Hussein Obama having worked for, or with, a pro-Democrat, pro-Obama group that is now being investigated for wide and massive voter registration fraud, ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).

Now the news is breaking that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development has given our collection money to ACORN (click on this post's title to read about it).

Or should I say, "squandered our collection money on ACORN."

Of course, the CCHD has a track record of giving our collection money to left-wing groups, including some pro-abortion ones.

You might want to keep these little nuggets in mind when the CCHD special collection comes around in November. As for me, I haven't contributed to the CCHD in 20+ years.

Why was he ordained in the first place?

No doubt you have heard about the sordid stunt that Father Geoffrey Farrow, 50, pulled in Fresno a week ago. It's been on the Net. Click on this post's title to see an L.A. Times article about it.

According to this article, Father Farrow, who was the pastor of the St. Paul Newman Center, which serves students at Cal State Fresno, started packing up that Saturday night. The next morning, he gave a local TV station an interview and said he is "gay."

Then he said Mass, and in his homily he announced his opposition to Prop 8, the defense of marriage initiative. He said, "I know these words of truth will cost me dearly..."

Then he went home, finished his packing and cleared out of town to stay with friends in L.A.

We should note especially that by calling his own sick words "truth," Father Farrow is accusing Jesus' Catholic Church of not having the truth.

Father Farrow graduated from St. John's Seminary in Camarillo.

The Times article says that last Thursday, Bishop John Steinbock of the Diocese of Fresno suspended Father Farrow by letter and warned him that more sanctions could follow.

Look, most likely all this could have been avoided if, away back when, someone had applied closer scrutiny.

Those in authority could either have not admitted him to the seminary or, at some point during his years in the seminary told him he needed to be elsewhere.

Only the most stable, psychologically sound men should be in the seminary and the priesthood. Is that test truly being applied now, around our country? Let's hope and pray so.

Not all clergy support Prop 8

It's sickening but true: Not all our clergy support Prop 8, the defense of marriage initiative.

Never mind that our California bishops have endorsed Prop 8 and are encouraging us Catholics to distribute pro-Prop 8 material!

Today a priest was sniping at Prop 8 to me and telling me about the "injustices" that homosexual pairs (that's my term, not his) supposedly face.

Could he explain why the committing of sodomy together by two individuals would somehow mean they have rights reserved to married people? Nobody can explain that.

Someone also told me about someone yesterday who tried to make a pro-marriage volunteer stop handing out pro-Prop 8 material at a Catholic gathering on a Catholic high school campus in this archdiocese. The same Prop 8 material our bishops are telling us to distribute! (This is third-hand material, so I don't really know the particulars.)

It is time, don't you think, for Cardinal Mahony to tell all his clergy in no uncertain terms to start unequivocally supporting Prop 8 and to stop badmouthing it and undermining it!

S.F. Archdiocese posts great pro-life news story

Click on this post's title to see a happy and encouraging pro-life news article about the baby-saving successes of San Mateo Pro-Life and their booth at the annual San Mateo County Fair.

The pro-lifers display a set of models of preborn babies. They also give away figures of babies at 12 weeks' gestation. This year, they gave away 500 in two days.

Glad to see the Archdiocese of San Francisco publicizing the right to life cause in this way!

Church bulletin goes off the tracks

Click on this post's title to read a recent (Oct. 5) bulletin blurb in which Claretian Father Steve Niskanen, the pastor of San Gabriel Mission, says he cannot unequivocally support Prop 8, the defense of marriage initiative.

(Thanks to an anonymous commenter-tipster for the news about this bulletin blurb.)

Fr. Niskanen quotes from the California bishops' endorsement of Prop 8. But then he writes:

"I deeply respect and submit to the authority of our bishops and the force of traditional Catholic teaching limiting sexual relations to the love and life-giving commitment of heterosexual marriage. But I cannot in conscience unequivocally support Proposition 8 because I cannot in my heart of hearts say with certainty, at this time, that God would not call His gay and lesbian children into a faithful and lifelong covenant with each other."

A bit later, Fr. Niskanen writes:

"My belief is that gay persons, as gay, are good, and part of God's diverse creation. Their expression of love, though different from the majority, does, I believe, participate in both the weakness and selfishness of sin and the generosity and kindness of God's love. They, like the rest of us, are called to chastity; that is, sexual self-control and loving respect for the other in conformity with one's calling in life."

Um, according to that, are "His gay and lesbian children" supposed to have "a faithful and lifelong covenant with each other" with or without committing the sin of sodomy?

There is no "calling in life," and no Sacrament of Marriage, for homosexual "covenants."

Let's pray for this padre and hope he can clear up his thinking through prayer and the counsel of his brother priests and his superiors.

More on the clergy files

A small item in Wednesday's L.A. Times said:

"A groundbreaking clergy abuse settlement is back on track in Los Angeles after both sides agreed on a judge to decide which priest files can be made public.

"Venus Soltan, an attorney for dozens of alleged molestation victims, said Tuesday that the retired judge would probably take months to review the documents from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles...

"Many plaintiffs believe the files ... may show criminal wrongdoing by [C]hurch leaders..."

Wonder who the retired judge is?

If you haven't visited it already, be sure to visit http://www.canon915.org

It's a new web site from the American Life League http://www.all.org

It explains in detail why our bishops need to deny Communion to all the many pro-abortion Catholic politicians.

Wait'll you see their ads and all their other info.

You'll want to forward the link to all your pro-life friends!

Forward it to all your pro-abortion, pro-Obama friends, too.

More proof positive that liberal Catholics love pro-abortion politicians

LifeSiteNews.com reported today (Oct. 7) that Bishop John M. Smith of the Diocese of Trenton, N.J., recently ordered Stuart Country Day School, a Catholic school in Princeton, to not let pro-abortion New Jersey ex-Gov. Christine Whitman keynote a "women's leadership" forum at the school.

But then, guess what: Rather than disinvite the pro-abort, the school canceled the whole forum.

And it gets worse: Society of the Sacred Heart Sister Frances de la Chapelle, who heads the school, issued a defiant public statement that said:

"We are saddened that our students, and the wider community, will not be enriched by the lively discussion and critical thinking that surely would have resulted from Governor Whitman's lecture on leadership, values, and the environment.

"I ask that we pray for our Church, Governor Whitman, and ourselves at this time."

Christine Whitman was so pro-abortion that in 1997 she vetoed a bill to ban partial-birth / being-born "abortions."

This episode is just more proof positive that liberal Catholics love liberalism more than Catholicism. And judging by the school's negative, defiant reaction to their Bishop's order, who can say that liberals' liberalism does not include being pro-abortion?

Nice to hear Pope Benedict XVI affirm Humanae Vitae last Friday

Wasn't it great to hear the Pope affirm Humanae Vitae last Friday?

Too bad that too many liberals will not learn. Forty years after Pope Paul VI's faithful and profound encyclical letter, they are still objecting.

Liberals are fact-proof, faith-proof and obedience-proof. Pretty sad. We must pray for them, and for ourselves.

Come, Holy Spirit, help us all. Thank You! Amen.

Catholic pro-abortion governor signs coercive homosexual-agenda bills into law

Click on this post's title to read about the several coercive homosexual-agenda bills that California pro-abortion Catholic Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger just signed into law.

The new laws run roughshod over the conscience rights of Catholic and Protestant nurses, other medical professionals, teachers, etc., and will wreak havoc upon children in this state.

Will our Catholic bishops protest?

SF Archdiocese Catholic Charities to end homosexual adoption program funding

The Archdiocese of San Francisco's Catholic Charities plans to end its two-year "funding relationship" of about $250,000 a year with Family Builders by Adoption and its California Kids Connection adoption program.

So says a story by Valerie Schmalz in the October 12 issue of Our Sunday Visitor (click on this post's title).

The story quotes S.F. Archdiocese spokesman Maurice Healy as tersely telling the Visitor, "The CCCYO [Catholic Charities CYO] relationship with California Kids Connection [Family Builders' adoption program] was not envisioned as being long term."

But when the archdiocese announced this plan in 2006, it didn't say it "was not envisioned as being long-term."

The news story says Catholic Charities of S.F. is facing a budget deficit. Maybe that is the cause of the funding cut. Maybe other problems, not yet revealed, could also be a factor?

Will the S.F. Archdiocese now rescue children whom this program placed with homosexual pairs in the past two years? Will it make reparation to the children in the years to come?

Thanks to the online California Catholic Daily for alerting everyone to the OSV story.

Is there anything more disappointing?

The thought hit me last night and has continued today:

Is there anything more disappointing than a Catholic politician who shills for the abortionists and facilitates all their slayings of God's little babies?

And I realize there is indeed one thing more disappointing than the pro-abortion politicians:

The members of the Catholic clergy and hierarchy who are addicted to voting for the pro-abortion politicians and who invent ways to provide Catholic cover, although spurious, for them.

Dear God, please help convert us each and all to love of You, deeply and fully, and please convert us all to loving your babies and saving them from all their betrayers and enemies. Amen.

Happy Feast Day, St. Francis!

Happy Feast Day, St. Francis! (October 4)

Click on this post's title to access The Little Flowers of St. Francis of Assisi, one of the most holy and beautiful Catholic books ever written, a compilation of eyewitness and other accounts of St. Francis.

Dear St. Francis, as you tamed and forgave, befriended and helped the Wolf of Gubbio, so please help tame us and help us eliminate our sins and turn us to a life of only good and love of Almighty God, with the help of His grace now and forever. Thank you so much! Amen!

Happy Feast Day, St. Therese!

Happy Feast Day, Little Flower! Both Oct. 1 ("new") and Oct. 3 (traditional)!

Thank you for loving Jesus and Mary. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for offering up all your sufferings. Thank you for writing these words:

"I would like to save souls and forget myself for them; I would like to save them even after my death."

Please help each of us get to Heaven, dear Little Flower! Thank you for your goodness and help.

Angel of God, my guardian dear

Happy Feast of the Guardian Angels (October 2)!

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Thank you, dear Guardian Angel, for all the times you've saved me from harm, spiritual and physical. Please continue to help, and I'll do my best to cooperate and be good! Amen.
