The adultery alcalde won't shut up

Did you hear our Los Angeles mayor/alcalde Antonio Villaraigosa on the radio yesterday? He was proudly proclaiming that, yes, he is in a "relationship" with that (female) reporter and he is not going to stop.

What a jerk. Oops, I'd better not say that.

We have to be careful how we treat this situation, because we don't want to offend the adultery community.

And we mustn't be intolerant and judgmental, not to mention self-righteous and holier-than-thou.

After all, adulterers are just like the rest of us.

And we don't want to commit adulterophobia, do we?

Dear Q,
You make a fundamental error in your not-so-subtle parody of adultery and homosexuality. According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, adultery is a sin whereas being homosexual is not. The Church makes a clear distinction between "being" and "doing" and pro-chastity programs for homosexuals, such as Courage, build upon this essential distinction. Nice try, Q, but no cigar.

Dear Anonymous,

No error at all. Everyone knows the Catholic distinction between "doing" and "being."

The satire and parody are not aimed at any individuals.

Instead, they are aimed at the sycophantic language of the liberally correct news media and at the propaganda language of the many activist "do-er" groups.

They are the ones who use language manipulatively to trick everyone into not thinking sodomy a sin and into thinking that individuals inclined to sodomy are legitimate when they push their agenda of making all society submit to them in law, hiring, education, etc.

That is a serious problem, and satire and parody are legitimate ways to oppose it.

By the way, the last I heard, the Archdiocese discouraged Courage from working here in Los Angeles; have you heard anything different?

Dear Q,
Every adulterer is by definition objectively sinning because the only way to be an adulterer is to commit adultery. However, the same does not hold true about homosexuality. One can be a homosexual and never commit a sinful homosexual act. So your swipes at the "adultery community" which by definition would be guilty of sin suggests that you are accusing the "gay community" of being sinful by definition as well. This is contrary to Church teaching as well as not in conformity with reality (and remember that "truth" is defined as conformity between reality and a knowing power).

As far as I know, Courage operates in many dioceses that have selected it as the diocesan ministry to homosexual Catholics, whereas other dioceses, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles among them, have other ministries for Catholic homosexuals.

Homosexuality is an intrinsic moral disorder which is in fact evil. So all semantics aside, and with all "due" respect, what is your beef? It didn't seem that Q was necessarily speaking about the f__s anyways, but was more addressing politically correct thinkspeak.

Didn't have that take on it all. It's simply another case of a person partaking of a sin who seems quite fine with it because it's what he wants and it makes him happy -- the great moral measurement of our time.

Dear Anonymous 1:32 a.m.,

No contradiction to reality and Catholic morality at all.

Sorry, but a whole group of people out there is inclined to adultery.

Not all of them commit adultery, but they would like to do it, they think about it a lot, they rationalize it as okay, they've done it in the past, they think having or being a mistress is good, they think people can't do without sexual stimulation and they think they can't stop. Etc.

A big reason that pro-aborts are pro-abort is that they want an escape valve, of killing the baby, to cover up their adultery and fornication or that of their kids.

Many activists are out in the open, advocating sodomy, spewing raw hatred for Catholic sexual morality and all who uphold it, and agitating to steamroller all society into caving in to them.

Those people are "the homosexual community," along with their fellow travelers and enablers such as the Catholic parishes who march along with them in the obscene, exhibitionistic "pride" parades that openly pander for sodomy.

People who think they are inclined to sodomy and seek reparative therapy to change get demonized by "the homosexual community."

People who seek chastity do not consider themselves part of "the homosexual community." To avoid temptation, they do not associate with devotees of sodomy. They do not promote the homosexual agenda.

But all this aside, you and every Catholic should agree that in order to speak truthfully, we should not use propaganda-speak and euphemisms that legitimize the sin of sodomy and its devotees.

It is no help to people enmeshed in sin, or tempted to sin, to speak as if we accept that sin. That is what I was getting at.

Do you agree that we Catholics should not use the homosexual propaganda terms?

He also said he would not propose to her in the media. Isn't he still married? Should he be proposing to anyone at this point? Will Cardinal M. continue to support his every liberal move? Is the rumored baby his?
A lot of questons here, and the media is asking more, no matter what the announced topics of his appearances are.

Dear Everyone,

I appreciate your comments, but I've deleted three here so we don't bring in unnecessary 9/11 references and fight about them.

Will mayor Tony's defiant adultery derail his career and ambitions in politics?

Isn't it ironic that he's made his wife's last name part of his own? That's like having a tattoo about her on his forehead.
