Please God, not Tod!

A church goer hugs Bishop Tod D. Brown after Mass on the first Sunday after announcing the largest church abuse settlement in the nation, at Holy Family Cathedral Church in Orange, Calif., Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange and 87 plaintiffs agreed to a record-breaking $100 million settlement. (AP Photo/Chris Carlson)

No irreverence intended! That was a heartfelt and plaintive prayer! Please God, not Tod!

Vaticanisti is suggesting that Levada may be jockeying for his Maui vacation buddy, Orange bishop Tod Brown, to become the Archbishop of San Francisco. This would not be good.

Bishop Brown is cut from the same polyester cloth as Mahony. He is the quintessential bureaucrat in bishop's clothes and, from what I can tell, not generally well liked in Orange. He evidently has an aversion to tabernacles in churches since he issued a decree, "Liturgical Norm 1999/05', which requires tabernacles to be placed in separate chapels in all new and renovated 'parish worship spaces." The upside is if Tod goes to San Fran maybe OC can get an orthodox bishop. Always look on the bright side.

Hi,
I lived in OC for 45 years. Brown and the rest have a problem with the "Real Presence" They are protestants. Bishop Soto is the only person that ,on two occasions, I wanted to conduct a citizens arrest for wreckless driving. TRUE STATMENT: I have never in my 54 years of life EVER seen anyone drive as fast and reckless as he does. ABSOLUTLY NO, I MEAN NO, respect for the law of the life of anpther human being. he has been caslled on it before and I ecpect on day he will be jailed. And if he ever is I am going to fly back to OC to testify against him. I ALSO know many the priest that are under Tod Brown. OC is in BIG trouble.

I pray to God that Bishop Todd brown doesn't get San Fransico. My husband and i had several mettings with him back in 2002 each meeting lasted two hours long. The meetings were concrning my husbands cousin Fr. Rod Stephens of te Orange diocese. Fr. Rod Stephens is a practicing homosexual living with his lover. You can read about it in The Los Angeles Catholic Mission newspaper website July/August issue 2004. The article left out the part when Fr. Michael Mckeriean got up out of his chair to hit me when the Bishop Brown held out his arm to stop him. Bishop Brown and Fr. Michael are a lovely pair.

I hope Tod DOES go to San Fran. Get him out of Orange. He is a horrible leader. Tod should never have been ordained a bishop. He is so poorly formed. His sermons are vapid. My rant could go on and on for hours. Enough.

In Idaho,where Brown was bishop
before being named for Orange in 1989, it was remarked: "they switched the baby at the hospital"
(Idaho got the IBM manager, someone else got a spiritual, theologically
minded man). He poses as moderate...but is ultra liberal, a
micromanaging bureaucrat, a clone of Mahony. Say it ain't so...that
in the Church it isn't what you know, it's who you know"!
