Father Charles Bouchard is president of Aquinas Institute of Theology, "Some people do feel homosexuality would disqualify a student. I hope we can provide evidence that should not be the case."
Father Bouchard said the key is celibacy not sexual orientation, "We don't want to make it look like it's just a question if someone is gay or straight. But whether they have the ability to live celibate and be effective ministers."
Father Bouchard, "I think it might be relevant in as much as that it answers some people's question that possibly there is a link between homosexuality and pedophilea. I don't think that link exists, so I'm not afraid of that question."

Barbara Dorris agreed. She is with the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or S.N.A.P., "They are mixing apples and oranges. A homosexual is not a pedophile. To make this a homosexual issue is just wrong."
Barabara said half the victims of abuse by priests are females, "A homosexual is no more likely to abuse a child than a heterosexual. This is a smokescreen, a diversion of blame. A way to change the subject. This is not about homosexuality."

Jeff, they're only a symptom of the overall growing acceptance of sodomy in the Western world. Everywhere we here, from once-reasonable people, "Well, that's just old-fashioned" "My cousin does it, so it couldn't be wrong" etc.
As for this silly man's claims that 'this is a diversion,' don't his worthless excuses sound like a 'diversion' to keep his sorry job?

Barbara is making statements she knows nothing about. To wit :
# A very recent (2000) study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that "The best epidemiological evidence indicates that only 2-4% of men attracted to adults prefer men. In contrast, around 25-40% of men attracted to children prefer boys. Thus, the rate of homosexual attraction is 620 times higher among pedophiles."5
# Another 2000 study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that". . . all but 9 of the 48 homosexual men preferred the youngest two male age categories" for sexual activity;' These age categories were fifteen and twenty years old.6
# Yet another recent study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that "Pedophilia appears to have a greater than chance association with two other statistically infrequent phenomena. The first of these is homosexuality . . . Recent surveys estimate the prevalence of homosexuality, among men attracted to adults, in the neighborhood of 2%. In contrast, the prevalence of homosexuality among pedophiles may be as high as 30-40%."7
# A 1989 study in the Journal of Sex Research noted that " . . . the proportion of sex offenders against male children among homosexual men is substantially larger than the proportion of sex offenders against female children among heterosexual men . . . the development of pedophilia is more closely linked with homosexuality than with heterosexuality."8

There's also the sleight-of-hand technique here.
It is true that homosexuals are not significant PEDOphiles, because PEDOphiles usually abuse very young children (<10 years old.)
But the homosexuals ARE EPHEBOphiles--preying on male children between the ages of 12-17 (roughly.)
IOW, they're lying by trickery.
If SNAP doesn't want a solution, then I guess the money will keep rolling in. Not a PC thing to say, but the love of the green dollar is playing at least a small role in this sordid affair. Unpopular but true. Not saying that it's all that way, but the element is there.
