More about the upcoming indulgence

Steubenville professor, Dr. Mark Miravalle, comments on the "gift of grace" which Pope Benedict XV is offering to the faithful on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception ...

It would greatly facilitate the reception of this plenary indulgence if cathedral rectors and parish pastors would consider placing an image of Our Lady (statue, picture, icon, etc.) in a suitably significant location in the church for public veneration by the faithful. It would also be most helpful to the faithful if pastors could establish some form of public Marian devotion for the solemnity, for example: a) leading the people in the praying of the Litany of Our Lady before the Marian image after the conclusion of each solemnity Mass; b) praying the Rosary before the image either before or after the liturgical celebration; or c) setting up a separate Marian devotional service during the evening of December 8, where public veneration of Our Lady could include scripture readings, a brief homily, the recitation of the Rosary, or even, where possible, the incorporation of Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction.

Let's see what, if anything, will be done in L.A. and elsewhere to promote the gift of this indulgence.

My parish will have its first candle light rosary procession after the evening Mass. There will be a light supper to follow that. The priests, not surprisingly, 'declined' to attend. No sisters or deacons are expected. Those 'leaders' who do not lead will not be in sight. It was my idea and the new male liturgist took me up on it. I have done all the planning and phone calling, etc. We will finally honor Our Lady after so many years when it was considered 'pre-Vatican II' and not in keeping with that nefarious spirit.

This priest honors the Mother of God at every turn. His homilies are posted here http://www.semperficatholic.com
every week as well as pictures of processions etc. Last Sunday at Mass he gave out large Miraculous Medals to everyone after Mass. There is also a procession every night for 17 days in honor of our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. Weinberger is a priest for Christ and not for himself. There are still a few faithful priests.

This parish also has the Sodality of Our Lady of Lourdes and I think he has more than 60 members. These young ladies are models for true feminiism. They pray the Rosary in Procession every First Saturday.
