These politicians are pretend-friends

Sure were a lot of people out downtown on Saturday, weren't there? All protesting the proposed federal legislation. Too bad the politicians who spoke to them were pro-abortion -- Antonio Villaraigosa, Gil Cedillo and more.

These politicians pretend to be the friends of illegals, workers and poor people. But what are their plans for them? Keep open the abortion mills that kill their babies and exploit women. Give them, and their children, sex "education," condoms, the Pill and sterilization so they will become promiscuous. Turn them into secularists so they will leave the Church.

I have said it before and I will say it again. What if our Cardinal, bishops and pastors would call in these politicians, one by one, and say, "Oye, amigo, if you really want to help the people, stop corrupting their souls and killing their babies. And it is a mortal sin for you to do that, so for the good of your immortal soul, get to Confession right away or else stop receiving Communion. Enough said."

Wouldn't it be nice to be a fly on the wall for that conversation! Oremos.

Did anyone happen to read earlier this year in the LA times about how Dolores Huerta was a major lobbyiest for some pro gay legislation that later did indeed pass.

She was photographed this weekend at Bishop Gabino Zavala's cathedral mass wearing a prominent medal of OLG. On second thought, I suppose that makes sense, she may be a true spiritual daughter of the Bishop. But to whom is Bishop Zavala the spiritual son to? This just goes on and on.

Can it be said that the Cardinals influence on this matter helped to galvanize this demonstration? Can he be held somewhat responsible?

I have read a long while back that parish priests must not be sources of discord within their communities. Are the LA bishops creating discord? I wonder.

As a Mexican-American, I too am wondering at the size of the crowds present at these protests. Why can't the Church get these kinds of crowds protesting against abortion, a truly greater evil than "outlawing" already illegal immigration? And another thought. Does the hypocritical Mexican government permit the type of illegal immigration along its borders that is occuring in the U.S.? The answer is simply no. I am sure that if Americans protested in Mexico regarding the right to illegally emigrate into Mexico, they would be thrown into the infamous Mexican jails.

Thanks, once again, Q, for putting things in their proper perspective.

I hope everyone who reads this blog tells at least 10 more people about it.

Dear Anonymous 10:45 p.m.,

Thank you for your kind words and for the nice suggestion that everyone tell 10 others about "onelacatholic." I second the motion!

Dear Vato Loco,

Yes, that thought hit me, too -- when will we get a crowd that big to defend babies from abortion? Part of the answer, as we know, is that if the shepherds truly lead, the flock will truly follow them.

I find amazing the tremendous crowds gathered. How could this have happened? The devil is very powerful right now, and I believe this manifestation had his help.

Perhaps these manifestations are a portend for the future- it is only going to get worse.

Perhaps Catholics need to examine why Mexico is such a rotten place to live.

These kids are protesting because the adults are egging them on and the adults are letting them. I believe that Mexican immigrants are usually seen as hard-working people who add to the economy. But unfortunately, the large protests have probably hurt their cause more than helped it. It did not help to see the rampant reconquistas attitude that was on display. As an American of Mexican descent (my grandparents were immigrants), these protests trouble me greatly. It is one thing to want to honor the country of your forefathers, it is another thing to despise the country that has accepted you within its borders when it didn't have to.
