Pro-lifers are praying for Teddy Kennedy

The news that Teddy Kennedy has a cancerous brain tumor is prompting pro-lifers to pray for him to return to his pro-life roots.

In 1971, Teddy Kennedy wrote a constituent that "human life, even at its earliest stages, has a certain right which must be recognized -- the right to be born, the right to love, the right to grow old." But for many years he has backed laws in favor of aborting babies and of punishing pro-lifers for trying to save the babies.

Now would be a great time for the clergy and hierarchy to come to Teddy Kennedy's aid by helping him to repent and become pro-life again.

In this case I am reminded of the case of Bernard Nathanson. He was one of the founders of NARAL, and a practicing abortionist. So sick was Dr. Nathanson that after impregnating his girlfriend, he aborted his own child. Dr. Nathanson later repented and converted to Catholicism, overwhelmed by the magnitude of his crimes.
If Ted Kennedy turns back to his faith and accepts the teachings of the Church, he will not be able to undo all the damage he has done. Still, what a great victory it would be for the pro-life movement! I agree, we should pray for him--all things are possible with God!
Nice blog, BTW.

Sure is different than when a prominent conservative figure is diagnosed with a terrible health ailment. The left, especially the blogosphere, goes nuts wishing all the tortures of the Nine Circles of hell on the person while they're still alive!!!!!!

I wouldn't wish rotten health on anyone. So I do want Ted Kennedy to get well, but I also want him to retire. Except for his correct vote on the issue of abortion in the ninth month, he's done a lot of political and moral damage to the country.

Dear Anonymous 3:40 p.m.,

Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for bringing up the conversion of Dr. Nathanson.

And thanks for reminding us all that "All things are possible with God."

Dear Tuleesh,

Thank you for writing! You sure are right when you point out that the leftists wish terrible things upon conservatives.

Yes, we wouldn't, and mustn't, wish rotten health on anyone. Good health is such a deep, deep blessing. We must always thank God for it and pray to Him for good health for everyone.
