Wow! Bishop says so-called spirit of Vatican II "is a ghost or demon that must be exorcised..."

Wow! Big news!

The online National Catholic Register (click on this post's title) reports that a U.S. bishop -- Bishop R. Walker Nickless of the Diocese of Sioux City -- has just issued a pastoral letter in which he rips the phony "spirit of Vatican II" with which liberal Catholics have been tearing apart our Church for the last almost five decades.

You can find a pdf file of Bishop Nickless's new pastoral letter, Ecclesia Semper Reformanda, or "The Church Is Always in Need of Reform," at his diocesan website: http://www.scdiocese.org

Bishop Nickless writes:

"There can be no split, however, between the Church and her faith before and after the Council. We must stop speaking of the 'Pre-Vatican II' and 'Post-Vatican II' Church, and stop seeing various characteristics of the Church as 'pre' and 'post' Vatican II. Only the 'hermeneutic of reform' [is legitimate and] has borne and is bearing fruit."

Bishop Nickless adds, "The 'spirit of Vatican II' must be found only in the letter of the documents themselves." Then he drops this bombshell: "The so-called 'spirit' of the Council… is a ghost or demon that must be exorcised if we are to proceed with the Lord’s work."

"DEMON that MUST be EXORCISED" -- think about and pray about the implications of that statement! Then tell everyone you know to look up the pastoral letter, read it, and alert their own contacts, and so on.

Spread the word far and wide.

This is something that's needed to be said for almost 50 years. So it's big news, for sure!

Deo gratias!

(By the way, sorry I haven't been able to post anything for the past couple of weeks. Thank you for checking in here and being a friend of Ole Q. Please keep looking in! God bless you!)

The Washington Blade tells us who testified in favor of D.C.'s sam-sex marriage bill yesterday: "Rev. Dr. Joseph Palacios, a Catholic priest and Georgetown University professor who testified as a member of Catholics United for Marriage Equality, pointed to public opinion polls showing a majority of U.S. Catholics under the age of 65 support the right of same-sex couples to marry." http://www.washblade.com/thelatest/thelatest.cfm?blog_id=27805

If you check your Archdiocesan Directory, lo and behold, Rev. Joseph Palacios is a priest of the L.A. Archdiocese.

Why doesn't the "Spirit of Vatican II crowd" actually read the VII documents instead of making things up?

While he's at it, it would be nice if the good bishop suggests some revisions to the Code of Cannon Law. Revisions that would heavily penalize cover-ups and thievery a la Mahony and Weakland. Enough of this, "fraternal correction" slaps on the wrists!

P.S.Regarding Code of Canon Law revisions:
How about a law that would severely sanction [or quite frankly "kick out"] disobedient, obstinate, and scandalous clergy like the activist "Sister" Donna Quinn

Dear tuleesh,

Thank you for writing. Isn't it amazing how liberals both religious and secular always make things up and never let facts get in the way of their ideology.

I wouldn't use the word "thievery" in connection with Cardinal Mahony.

But there are, of course, huge expenses, such as the mega-costly cathedral and the gigantic payouts, that L.A. Catholics can certainly question.

Dear Tuleesh,

Thank you for the link to the story about Dominican Sister Donna Quinn, who was so pro-abortion that for years she escorted womb-babies to death at an abortion business.

Her order has now made her stop that. Let's hope somebody can counsel her so she sees the horror of what she's done and she repents.

At last report, three bishops are deciding what to do next.

If she doesn't repent, it would seem they should excommunicate her in the hope that will wake her up.
