Can anything good come out of L.A.?

Yes, of course! There are good people, good priests and good religious. One very good parish is St. Peter Chanel. It is staffed by a religious order of priests who are faithful and fervent.

don't expect anything balanced from this blog... he'll give you 100 posts with recycled pictures, and then, maybe, he'll post something he thinks is good to convince you that he's trying to be "fair and balanced". It's a ruse. He seems to be among the "cathedral isn't catholic and should be destroyed" fringe crowd, even though the cathedral has the blessed sacrament in its tabernacle, an altar consecrated to Our Lord where Holy Mass is celebrated, the relics of saints and early martyrs, including LA's patroness, a baptismal font, kneelers on its pews, and is the seat of a validly ordained and appointed cardinal archbishop.

St. Peter Chanel is an amazing parish! There are many more fervently orthodox parishes in LA, but you just have to look (and trust me, I have!). The Catholic Church is supposed to be universal. Unfortunately, the "catholiticity" (universality) of the Church has been diminished as you would have to go to far lengths to find an authentically Catholic parish. What we can do is continually pray for the priests (they are validly ordained and are consecrated priests), bearing in mind that Holy Mother Church has gone through much turmoil throughout history (e.g., Arianism, to name one), but has always stood VICTORIOUS. What we need is a true revival in the Church, the one that Vatican II called for. I believe that if we revitalized the ancient traditions of the Church, along with lifting the restrictions on the Tridentine Latin mass, and having more QUALITY orthodox Catholics, we can work for a better future for the Church. The Church is breathing and it is definitely ALIVE. We must act conscientously and virtuosly to correct the heresies, blasphemies, and liturgical abuses that are profaning Christ!
