Mahony says Pope Benedict will not be visiting L.A.
The LA Times reports:
"Mahony said he doubted that Benedict would visit Los Angeles any time soon. Mahony said Los Angeles may find itself lower in priority because John Paul spent two days here in 1987."

L.A.? Lower in priority? Keep wishin'.

Pope Benedict doesn't really need to visit L.A. All he needs to do is visit this blog and he will see for himself just how bad things are in Mahony's Archdiocese where, according to His Eminence, "there are no liturgical abuses."
Come to think of it, the only one who needs to do some traveling is really the Cardinal himself. I will gladly buy him a one-way ticket to Rome where he can become an Archpriest somewhere and occupy the rest of his years at some unimportant desk job.
Please tell me that is not a Mass in the picture.
Patrick:
Yes, I am afraid, that was a Mass. And that's Cardinal Mahony sitting there in the midst of those dancing girls. The woman in the foreground with the microphone wrapped around her cheek is the "song leader," I guess. And all of this took place at the infamous Los Angeles Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. Mind you, His Eminence maintains that there are no liturgical abuses in L.A.
P.s. Congratulations on being accepted into the seminary. What a hopeful time for the Church, in spite of everything! After all, Ratzinger is pope! What more could we ask for?
You have vexed me. I am very vexed.
To think that the holy sacrifice of the mass was turned into a pop concert/modern dance recital.....
Didn't you post this picture 3 or 4 times on your old blog? I think we get it already.
Yeah, I did. It's such a good picture of what is wrong in L.A. I just can't resist.
You obviously don't get it.
"No liturgical abuses in L.A."
If the dancing girls were in Anaheim, then that statement is not invalidated by your picture.
Sheesh. And I thought things were bad in San Jose with the prohibition of kneeling in the presence of the Eucharist.
I think you should keep this photo for the Vatican to see.
I get it. It's beyond sacrilegious. When I see these type photos with these people performing such outrageous unbelievable acts against our beautiful Catholic faith, I can't help but wonder if little green men haven't taken over their minds while they were sleeping. It' frightening surreal. May our new beloved Pope Benedict VVVI put an end to this blatant sacrilege of our faith.
The thought went through my head that they were indoctinating the attentive young ladies shown to this type of sacrilege. Then I reread your post, Quintero, that this happened at a religous education center. Need I say more? What a travesty to our Lord and God by the L.A. Cardinal.
And what a travesty that such a one would abuse his power and authority like this. This must stop.
