The guy obviously doesn't know how to use a hammer. Probably never did a decent day's work in his long, miserable life.

Yeah, it looks as if somebody hit it with a paintball or something. Its kind of symbolic, though; this heretic is throwing mud in the Savior's face, trying to claim that His mission was worthless.
