Nathaniel said to Philip ...

Can any thing of good come from Nazareth, ur, I mean, L.A.? (Cf. John 1:46)

You betcha, says Karen over at SOME HAVE HATS, and I would have to say I agree. In spite of all that is wrong with the Church in L.A. in this "present darkness," there are bright spots here and there. Check out Karen's post, Yes, there IS a good priest in L.A.

It's true. Fr. Willy kicks some serious spiritual butt.

I was talking with a priest friend from NYC, Bronx, who was concerned with the very few Catholics who receive the Sacrament of Reconcilliaion. Now the parishes in the L.A. area (St Christrophers West Covina for one) I regularing attend in has the opposite experience. So the Spirit still moves and calls us. Does that reflect the leadership? It has to.

St. Peter Chanel in Hawaiian Gardens has lots of confession, too.

How about Cathedral Confessions? Anyone gone there? The confessionals (I think there are only 2 although I could be wrong about that) look like cattle cars to me.

I went to the Cathedral for confession once, about a year ago, and the confessor was a great young priest.

Just goes to show you:
where the Synod abounds, grace abounds all the more.

Clayton -

Another good priest sighting in L.A. Alleluia! I trust you were repentant of all your synods!
