Cracks in the wall?

Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral

DALLAS MORNING NEWS ...

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, serious cracks now appear in the stone wall Cardinal Roger Mahony has erected to protect his archdiocese from victims' lawyers, civil authorities and the media. In October, a court forced Cardinal Mahony to release information from priest personnel files that showed how the local hierarchy shuffled abusers around for years and covered it up.

Earlier this month, a judge put 44 civil sex abuse cases on track for a 2006 trial, which would provide the first public courtroom airing of the scandal's scope in Los Angeles.

And just yesterday, The Los Angeles Times reported that the seminary that has long provided training for Southern California priests has a rate of abuse allegations more than double that of the church-reported national average.

How do you solve a problem like Mahony?
How do you catch an eel and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Mahony?
An irritant! A dissident! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell him,
Many a thing he ought to understand.
But all he does is stay,
He will not go away,
Until the Holy Father has him banned!

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Mahony?
How do you get a moonbat off your hands?

The thing that irritates me most about this whole ordeal, is Mahoney is pulling the Church down with him. He should do everyone a favor and resign. You would think that these guys would learn after what happened to Cardinal Law, what a mess.

What happened to Cardinal Law is simple. He is in Rome under close watch and he is a rector, that is it, clear and simple, a rector. He has no authority in matters purtaining to the Magisterium, all he is a priest with the name Cardinal in front of it.Law was the bishop of my diocese before going to Boston, I know his ego and believe me it is black and blue! People don't understand what a slap and spit in the face a Cardinal takes once they are in the position Law is in. People see the bask of "Oh, he is in Rome, he is popular there, all great people go to Rome." Not true, that is like saying, oh I got an administrative job in the Chancery, whoopy do! I have no contact with civilians, I don't ever say mass and give sermons to people, I don't here confessions, I can't do anything because I'm under the watchful eye of the bishop, that is what Cardinal Law is under. I think you mean civil law, but I'm talking Church law and it's punishments. The best way to humilate someone in authority as Law, you simply take away his power and give him a job of rector.

Mahony would leave before going to Rome. Rome is hell for him. His ego being battered that badly, he'd leave. Liberals have a disdain for authority and yet crave it. They think they are kings when they are only subjects. LA has shown that Mahony is completely overmatched to be Cardinal-Archbishop. There are others out there who could do the job better, but God never lets things get too far out of hand. God ordains and sustains, he keeps the church in control. The church is getting ready for a golden age, vocations are going to flourish again, religious life will come around too. Death will end feminism and some of the ridiculous thinking.
