Is it just me, or is that flame the perfect symbol of the eternal fate of all who betray the Faith in search of power and glory?

The spirit lives on...notice how the 'Kennedy question' has become a requirement for Catholic Supreme Court nominees? Roberts anwsered the way the world wanted, we'll see who's next.
The kind of havoc one wretched family has played in the Church in this country...

Q (or anyone),

Does Kennedy resonante with west coast, Hispanic Catholics? Was his presidency meaningful to them the way it was to east coast Irish (or even Italian) Catholics?

Actually, I think it was St Bernard who said to burn candles and wax on graves is a holy and admirable offering to God for the soul of the deceased. Both Archbishop Sheen and St Padre Pio called Pres Kennedy "great". Did you know he & Jackie went to confession the night before he was shot? Let us not judge, but rather pray for his soul.

Noone is saying they know where his soul is. It's a matter of the public example set. As for 'greatness,' you can call Mohammed or Napoleon 'great' without meaning they were saints or anything.
