Cardinals meet with pro-abortion Catholic pols

What did I tell you about "liberal" Catholics never being able to get over their addiction to pro-abortion Catholic politicians?

On Friday last, April 28, Cardinal Mahony, Cardinal McCarrick (Washington, D.C.) and Cardinal O'Malley (Boston), lobbying about amnesty for illegals, met with the fanatically pro-abortion Catholic Senators Teddy Kennedy (Massachusetts) and Richard Durbin (Illinois).

True, those three Cardinals did meet later with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (Tennessee); and Cardinal Mahony and Cardinal Keeler (Baltimore) had met earlier in the day with White House aide Karl Rove. But, big deal! Rove and Frist are not for unlimited millions of abortions on demand, as Kennedy and Durbin are.

What should we think the chances are that the Cardinals admonished Kennedy and Durbin to stop supporting the abortions of millions of babies? Or that the Cardinals rebuked Kennedy for the Catholic priests and lay people put in prison under the pro-abortion laws he pushed? As the 'way old-time pitcher Dizzy Dean used to say, the chances are: slim and none.

If the Cardinals did speak of these things, they should let us and all America know about it.

I'm shocked. SHOCKED!!! To find that Roman Catholic Cardinals are schmoozing with pro-abort politicoes.

Actually, I'm not shocked. I've noticed that when a person refuses to take responsibility for all of his actions in the way that Psalm 15:4 in part reminds us to do ". . . [a man] who swears to his own hurt and does not change;" tend to, with the passage of time, become more and more liberal in their views.

It seems to me that they do this to asuage their guilty conscience by appealing to the lowest common denominator in the culture to get apporoval and thus feel good about themselves.

Certainly in this case it's almost as if they're saying, "Look, I'm not so bad. I've got the impramatur of a man of the cloth. And a cardinal no less!"

BTW, the Senator from Chappaquiddick used to be pro-life.

Continue to pray for the early retirement of Roger Mahony. Let's hope that in 2011 -- the year that Mahony is slated to head off to Leisure World -- he doesn't pull a McCarrick and stay on indefinitely.

Mahony, just please leave!!! You have, more than any single human being, wrecked the Catholic Church in Los Angeles.

Dear Jeff,

True, Cardinal O'Malley might not be far left, as is Cardinal Mahony. But he is not exactly a Bishop Bruskewitz, either.

He is closing many parishes. Does he speak out against Boston College's dissenters? Does he discipline or remove disobedient priests? Does he defend his flock from sex miseducation? Does he stand up for the rights of God and the Church against Massachusetts state law? Does he defend the rights of Catholic parents to be the primary educators of their children? Does he oppose so-called marriage for homosexuals, and other elements of the homosexual agenda?

Does he allow widespread celebration of the Tridentine Latin Mass? Does he defend pro-life activists? Does he join them at abortion sites? Does he foster vocations by recruiting orthodox seminarians? And so on.

Quintero...."and so on"...exactly! Now, I'm interested to hear your perspective on Jeff's mentioning the former liberal, pro choice..mayor of Rome (Rutelli) receiving communion directly from JPII.

Dear Anonymous 12:06 p.m.,

It is clear that whatever happened that one time with the Pope is a completely different case from U.S. cardinals' decades-long track record of palling around with, and giving Communion to, the political champions of aborting babies.

Incidentally, would you consider saying "pro-abortion" instead of "pro-choice?" "Pro-choice" is a propaganda term invented by a consultant paid by the pro-aborts.

Cardinal Keeler has already publicly stated that he will not use the communion rail as a "weapon" against pro death "Catholic" politicians. In other words, they can continue to defile Christ, who is fully present in the Blessed Sacrament, and he will do nothing about it. Good luck on Judgement Day, folks.

Even if he wanted to use the COMMUNION RAIL as a "weapon" (sic) against baby killers, Keeler, Mahony and their ilk have destroyed virtually all such "weapons of Mass construction" from sanctuaries across the land.
