Mahony's most troubling case

Father Michael Baker. Now this is a case that just might (or at least should) keep Roger Mahony from getting a good night's sleep.

The case of Baker is illustrative and it was the one which Cardinal Mahony has referred to as the case “that troubles me the most.” Some have speculated that the part most troubling to Mahony is the indication from prosecutors that Baker could be called upon as a state’s witness.It would be a gross understatement to say that this would be very bad news for Cardinal Roger M. Mahony.

When asked to comment, the Cardinal’s spokesperson said that Cardinal Mahony is concerned solely with the pastoral matters of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Tod Tamberg called the Cardinal "a sincere and well-meaning person who makes great pancakes for breakfast, caps it off with Vietnamese coffee and I love him very much."
If the best that can be said of a cardinal by his spokesman is that he has pancakes and coffee....
well, fill in the rest.

Ummm….actually, the above quote comes from me and not Mr. Tamberg.
Like all humor, it had a hint of truth in it and I thought it would be good for a laugh. Sorry if I mislead anyone.
I actually don’t know whether or not the Cardinal can cook pancakes. But, if he can, then maybe Tod is right.

I knew Tod Tamberg. I went to school with Tod Tamberg [Notre Dame, circa 1982-84]. I lived in Moreau Seminary with Tod Tamberg.
