Cardinal Mahony commissions his biography
This week's issue of "the blogger's inspiration," i.e., The Tidings, announces (click on this post's title) that Cardinal Roger Mahony is having his biography written.
The Cardinal has chosen the author: His own Cardinal's Theologian, Dr. Michael Downey, professor of Systematic Theology and Spirituality at what's left of St. John's Seminary.
Says The Tidings, "The research will begin immediately and will culminate in the publication of the volume by a nationally renowned publisher following the cardinal's anticipated retirement at age 75 in 2011."
The story says, "Downey described Cardinal Mahony as 'the most significant and influential moderate voice in the American Catholic hierarchy. So many people all across the country, and in different parts of the world, look to him as a paragon of the middle way and of moderation, an embodiment of the Common Ground so dear to the heart of his brother bishop and good friend Cardinal Bernardin.'"
"Common Ground" -- yes, with pro-abortion politicians.
Think the perfesser will include ole "L.A. Catholic" here in his research?

Does this man's ego know no boundaries?
Boy, that last paragraph really laid it on thick. The disconnect between his devotion to St. Joseph and his devotion to pro-abortion politicians is one for the books.
Oh, and Fr. S, I don't think the boundaries have been found yet.
Paul in Long Beach
I was thinking of googling "Michael Downey" and "theologian", but I'm afraid of what might come up.
Moderate? Cardinal Mahony? You gotta be kidding.
I just hope that Archdiocesean funds or St John's funds aren't used for this tripe.
Being that he has recently been sued along with the Archbishop of Mexico City for aiding in the crimes of a sexual abusing priest, I wonder what this vanity publication "hagiography" will look like if criminal charges rise out of the civil suit findings?
The attorney, Jeffrey Anderson of St Paul, who filed the lawsuit has long been at this kind of work and is running out of cases. He will be out for the kill on this one.
Do you know who has been commissioned to sculpt the many statues that will be needed? Or to pain portraits of the man?
just kidding?
Mahony is the Bill Clinton of the Catholic Church. Now that is long reign of terror and error are nearing the end (not fast enough, though it may be!), all he can think about is his legacy.
And what a tragic legacy.
What he should be thinking about are the four last things: death, judgment, heaven and hell.
There is still time for repentance and reparation.
Can't wait 'til 2011. No, seriously, we should not have to wait until 2011 to read ... about him retiring.

2011! Will there be any true Catholics left in Mahonyland by that time?
We can't wait until 2011!

It is your duty to God and all good Christians to write an unauthorized biography of the cardinal for release at the same time.
Dear Anonymous 3 p.m.,
Thank you for the suggestion about an unauthorized biography! As John Wayne's character said in one movie, "I thought about it." I really was going to do a post saying someone needs to do that.
As it is, my recent post about suggested chapters in the Cardinal's biography could serve as a partial table of contents for an unauthorized bio.
Maybe someone will undertake such a bio. Lots of people have source material.
ATTENTION, ATTENTION!
The CRCOA Knights of Columbus Website is now up and running!
Go to crcoa.com, click on "Knights of Columbus", then click on the State.
you are interested in that is listed, then just follow the instructions.
You will find there the names of pro-abortion and or sodomite public figures
who are still Knights, a picture of them with details such as NARAL and
NACGLM ratings, Council number, and a link to their personal Websites.
We are looking to find out information on more pro-abortion and or sodomite public figures who are Knights. If you have such information please email it to: president@crcoa.com. Eventually we believe we will have at least one such referrence for each State!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher, Founder & Chairman Concerned Roman Catholics of America, Inc.
That HizEminence is the Bill Clinton of the Catholic Church in LA is right. He just needs to feel da luuuv and adulation of the people he believes he's helping.
And like Bubba in his hubris, Mahony can't wait for history to "write" his biography. So he guards his legacy by heading historians off at the pass, so to speak. And is making sure they get it "right" by commisioning his bio to one of his sicko-phants.
Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!
