The Cathedral as "a model Church for all Parish Churches"

There it is, in black and white, in the second paragraph on the first page of the web site of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (click on this post's title):

"The Cathedral serves as a 'model Church for all Parish Churches' in the style and content of its liturgical celebrations."

Hmmm. And hmmm.

By the way, think we'll see Tridentine Masses in the Cathedral very soon? Are parishioners of the Cathedral parish petitioning Cardinal Mahony for them? Let's hope and pray they do.

That is what a Cathedral is supposed to be........

I remember the Pope's master of ceremonies teaching us about ceremonials and the book of "how to" for Bishops liturgy....

he said: "don't try to recreate the Pope's Mass" "don't try to have your parishes recreate the Cathedral ceremony."

Try to have them all imitate the beauty of these liturgies to whatever extent possible....

and yes, I could see a beautiful latin mass at the old altar in the rear of the Cathedral......
it would be a beautiful and appropriate setting.

Reverend and Dear Father Jim,

Thank you for commenting. It is wonderful when padres such as you strive to make the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass reverent and beautiful.

That is a nice idea you have about a Latin Mass at the old altar.

Thank you for giving everyone the great gift of your priesthood. God bless --
