Cardinal Mahony congratulates abortion zealot Obama, totally ignores preborn babies

What else is new?

Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles has written president-elect Barack Hussein Obama a congratulatory message that fails to defend or intercede for the lives of God's little preborn babies.

I've only found the text of the Cardinal's letter in the print edition of the November 14 issue of The Tidings. I haven't found it in the online edition of that paper or on the Archdiocesan web site.

His Eminence tells Obama, "Your many speeches over the past two years have focused upon the needs of so many within our American society. All people of good will from coast to coast will want to work with you to achieve those goals..."

Then the Cardinal says, "There is one particular need, however, that will be best met in early 2009..."

Do you suppose this "particular need" that Cardinal Roger Mahony singles out is, say, "Putting an end to the aborting of 1.2 million babies a year in the USA?"

No, the need he brings up is how to regularize the situation of illegal aliens.

How do you think Obama and his transition team and potential staffers reacted to a letter from an American cardinal that completely lets him off the hook on aborting babies?

Do you suppose they laughed out loud and said, "Look at the free pass he's giving us! We don't have to worry about any trouble over abortion from him!"

It figures Card. Mahony would talk about the illegal immigrants in complete contrast to what the Church really teaches...We need to pray for him...Feb 27 2011 can't come quick enough

I heard someone remark that in forty years (or a hundred, whatever) when the Church is under attack for not having been forceful enough in its opposition to abortion (just like we're going through with the "Hitler Pope" garbage right now), Mahony and Gregory's letters, and the photo/video of Egan smiling and joking with Obama during that DC dinner are going to be used as evidence against the Church.
Their behavior makes me ill.

that's a powerfully prophetic way to speak to a president-elect who has had trouble producing his own birth certificate... Preacher, meet choir.

Would it be possible for you to post the entire letter here? I did not see that issue of the Tidings and want to accurately quote his letter when I write my letter to him. This is an absolute travesty, but I'm not surprised. We are at ground zero in the culture war here in LA and the only topic on which the Cardinal speaks publicly is illegal immigration. Disgraceful.

Yes, Alan Keyes has taken up the fight to have Obama show his legal long form birth certificate. The Supreme Court will be in conference about this situation in December before the electorial college votes. Worldnet Daily website has the scoop on it!

Dear Cathy,

Well said. It makes me ill, too, and all pro-lifers.

Dear Cathy,

Thank you for bringing this Mom to our attention, and we can give thanks that now she has been released thanks to the intervention of Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Joe Pitts (R-Pa).

Thanks for your witty insight!

Dear Mike,

It would be hilarious if the Supreme Court would invalidate the election, wouldn't it? But more likely, they will refuse to consider the case or will dismiss it for no good reason.

Thank you so very much for the joyful news about that mother and her baby. I could not get them out of my head this week as I begged the Virgin of Guadalupe to block the murderers and allow no harm to come to the baby.

I am ashamed to admit that I was too scared to search for an update on the situation.
You have made my day.
It's a rare piece of joyful news in this valley of tears.

God bless you!

Dear Cathy,

You're very welcome, and God bless you, too! Sounds like your prayers and those of many people helped that mom and her baby.

You're right, we all need all the good news / Good News we can get. Your loving concern for that mom and baby, and your heartfelt prayers for them, are happy reminders to everyone of the power of love and prayer. Thank you.

Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, ruega por nosotros (pray for us)!

Yeah, so did the Holy Father.
