Irish prelate okays 'gays' for priesthood
Dublin, Nov. 25 (CWNews.com) - The Archbishop of Dublin has said that homosexual men are not excluded from ordination as Catholic priests, according to a report in the Irish Times.
The archbishop's remarks on the Vatican document appeared to contradict the text of the Instruction from the Congregation for Catholic Education. But they matched previous statements from Archbishop Martin, who had earlier told The Tablet: "You don't write off a candidate for the priesthood simply because he is a gay man."

What's most troubling about this situation is that he is the one rumored to be the next Secretary of State. I sure hope not!
That is very troubling indeed. Where did you hear that rumor?

Concerning the Archdiocese of Dublin... I finally beat the Great PQ to the punch on a certain story!!?? *evil grin! I posted mine yesterday*
Anyhow, concerning the wonderful, if not somewhat whacky, Archbishop of Dublin... So I just want to make sure I have this right, Martin is the same one who booted out 5 seminarians for KNEELING for Holy Communion. But he wants to retain sodomites? Sooo...if you drop to your knees and kneel down for one certain thing, you can join that gay band of Martin's Merry Men... but if you drop to your knees and kneel down for another certain something, you get kicked out. Ahhhh, I see now.
Benedict needs to do what the saintly Pius V did in the span of less than 6 years ... fire a truck load of bishops and start all over.
non sum dignus-
I was too busy eating turkey yesterday.
You beat me this time, fair and square.
ANON... and what St. Charles Borromero did. Fire hose the seminaries empty and start over
PETER... but I DID say after admitting to stealing your idea, that you wouldn't mind because (and I quote) "AGAIN I must follow in the footsteps of Quintero. (But he's so COOL!)"
BOBND,
Excellent point, but I have to ask... even if one is a celebate homosexual, they still suffer from a "grave moral disorder" as the CCC states.
With that said, how can one with a broken moral compass be my moral shepherd?
BTW. swing by the lair and post! I haven't seen ya for awhile!
Go here. I can't remember if that's the only place I saw the rumor about the Archbishop of Dublin, but it might have been. Seems like an unlikely candidate, but then so did Levada.
Iosephus-
Thanks.
I dont think the Seminarians were booted out because they knelt ! Where did you get that from...perhaps there was some disagreement and annoyance which is unfortunate and sad. Our Seminary in Maynooth needs to return to Catholicism !
