Good homliy by Father Szkredka at St. Genevieve's (Panorama City) this morning at the 8am Mass. Speaking about today's Gospel reading, he reflected on the persistence of Faith, as it recognizes our own unworthiness, but at the same time holds out great hope for the mercy of God. Unfortunately, "hymn" choices were, as usual, poor, capped off by Eagles' Wings for the recessional. Who like this song? It is wretched.

I went to St. Michael's Abbey in Orange County. Beautiful chant, Latin Novus Ordo Mass, very reverent, inspiring homily.

I went to St. Victor's in W. Hollywood on Saturday night and St Peter & Paul in Wilmington on Sunday night and they were both excellent.

Saturday night at St. V was the Gregorian chant Mass and the homily was on humility. The homily Sunday at St P&P was the kick-off of a series of homilies on the 10 commandments which Fr Irving is expecting to run through November. It's going to be excellent.

I need to get out to St. Michael's one of these days.

SS Peter & Paul in Wilminton is an excellent parish. They have 24 hr adoration, communion received kneeling, no EEMs, no girl alter boys, Latin is used in the Mass frequently and lots more. Not to mention the beautifully restored church. The Pastor, Father Irving, is a very holy man.

I have lived in LA county for a number of years but moved to the San Fernando Valley. We are visiting three parishes to see which one we are going to register in. I am a little disappointed, but I think it has to do with change. This Sunday which has been my experience with the other parishes, Father's homily he chooses to extract a word and change it to his meaning. This Sunday it was Our Lord's response Oh women what faith you have. Father said it was the women's love of her child that healed the child. Now if I had not read a commentary before mass to prepare maybe I would not be spliting hairs. A Cannanite women was from a group of people who had been kicked off their land to bring the Jewish nation in (Land of milk and honey). A rising King of the Jews would probably threaten the old order of Cannanites like it did to the Romans. It was her faith and trust in calling him O Lord, Son of David that healed her child, in my humble view. She probably knew as the Gentiles eventually did that the kingdom was open to all.

I went to a Traditional Latin Mass at MSJC Serra Chapel. It was great, the homily done by a Norbertine Priest was great. St. Michael's Abbey is in Silverado Canyon, Orange County. That must have been a long drive for you, it's only 10 minutes away for me.

Anonymous, if you're in the Valley you might try St Charles Borremeo in North Hollywood. Just avoid the 5pm Mass. That's the contemporary music ensemble. Ugh.
